DR. GEORGE S. ROBINSON, III,
OF COUNSEL (DC VA)

Dr. Robinson has enjoyed a rich career in law. Dr. Robinson's practice has focused on perpetuating the international space program via law, lectures and the numerous books and articles he's written on the subject. When it comes to aerospace law, there are few attorneys that can provide the knowledge base that Dr. Robinson can offer his clients. Dr. Robinson co-founded R | R with his son to focus his practice on aerospace entrepreneurs with a strong desire to commercialize space through satellites, launch vehicles and space tourism.

For 25 years Dr. Robinson served as legal counsel at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., where he enjoyed an exceptionally broad law practice relating primarily to domestic and international science research activities. Prior to his position at the Smithsonian, he served as an international relations specialist at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, where he was Desk Officer for developing collaborative research and educational programs with Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, Spain and Pakistan. He also served as legal counsel at the Federal Aviation Administration, where he worked on the re-codification of the Civil Aeronautics Regulations into the Federal Aviation Regulations, and also served in the International Law Branch where he worked on bilateral and multilateral aeronautical agreements and treaties.

Dr. Robinson has taught and lectured in law and business relating to space commerce at numerous universities in the United States and abroad, including, among others, George Mason University, Oxford University, McGill University, George Washington University, and Georgetown University. He serves on the board of directors for various science research facilities, foundations, and hospitals. He has also consulted for the National Research Council, the Smithsonian Institution, the Department of the Interior's Remote Sensing Data Archives, the Maritime-Aerospace Liaison Project of the Maine Maritime Academy, and NASA, where he serves on the Planetary Protection Advisory Committee.

Dr. Robinson has authored over 100 articles and books on a broad range of subjects, including primarily public and private international law relating to space activities, human factors and space law; space commerce and aviation law and science/technology law; maritime law and policies relating to oceanography and limnology research; law relating to conservation of land, critical habitats, and animal and plant species; terrestrial and oceanographic environmental law; and business law.
